A fans view on the Bengals

BYE WEEK WRAP UP

After a week off the Bengals remain tied for second place in the AFC North trailing the Steelers by a half of a game. The Steelers beat the Cardinals 32 to 20 and with a tough three game stretch ahead we will soon know who the Pittsburgh Steelers really are.The Steelers face New England, Cincinnati, and Baltimore. With a shocking loss to the Jags, the Ravens fall to second place in the division. As I suspected, the Raven offensive problems have been masked by their defense. Jacksonville shut down Ray Rice, leaving Flacco to carry the load. Some sports writers are saying Flacco isn’t the guy to lead Baltimore to a Super Bowl and personally I agree. Cincinnati heads out to Seattle for a matchup with the Seahawks, who were only capable to put up three points against the Browns this week in a loss. I am confident that the Bengals walk away with a win this week and continue to prove the critics wrong. This young team is taking all the necessary steps to become a winning franchise and winning games they are expected to is part of that journey.

CALL ME CRAZY

Congratulations to all the faithful fans in Who Dey Nation. With our win over the Jacksonville Jaguars we now have a winning record. Currently tied for second in the AFC North, a half a game behind the Ravens, my expectations are begining to run wild. I looked ahead at the schedule this morning and I couldn’t help but see this team as a ten or eleven win team, which could very well mean playoffs. That’s right, I said playoffs. Here’s a list of the remaining teams we play:

  • Indianapolis   0-5
  • Seattle               2-3
  • Tennessee       3-2
  • Pittsburgh       3-2
  • Baltimore        3-1
  • Cleveland        2-2
  • Houston          3-2
  • St Louis           0-4
  • Arizona           1-4

These teams combine for a record of 17-25 and no one has a better winning percentage than the Bengals besides the Ravens who had a bye last week. I’m not saying its going to be a lock that the Bengals walk away with ten wins this year because we do play the Ravens and Steelers twice during this stretch but they are division opponents and those games always seem to be a lot closer than they should. Andy Dalton is proving that if a game is in reach in the fourth quarter he is going to do what it takes to walk away with a win. So if the Bengals were to split with Baltimore (who is relying on its defense to score points) and Pittsburgh (who should be calling the all you can eat buffets in the area in hopes to find a new offensive line) and win one of the games between the Titans or Texans this team will be in the running for a wildcard spot in the playoffs. That’s right, PLAYOFFS!
